Schiaparelli Fever

As the opening of the Schiaparelli/Prada exhibit at the Met fast approaches, it seems the retail market has caught Schiaparelli fever. As a reflection of the bleak economic climate, it seems the last few years have been full of darker, more industrial + more serious fashions. It's no wonder that, as the economy regains some of its steam, people are welcoming fun, playfulness + whimsy with open arms + are looking to own a little piece of fashion history at the same time.

Last week, L.A. vintage sellers Decades co-hosted a Manhattan pop-up trunk show featuring vintage + modern Schiaparelli + Prada pieces. Today 1stDibs launched it's Schiaparelli Capsule Collection with some amazing pieces up for grabs including these floral + pearl "eyebrow" sunglasses.

Also last week was this season's Charles Whitaker "Couture, Vintage Clothing & Textile Auction" which had this hilariously amazing, and by far one of our favorite Schiaparelli pieces of all time, cane/purse that sold for $2900 (+20% buyers premium) off the admittedly laughable presale estimate of $300-500.

As interest + prices continue to rise, we can't wait to see what surreal + fun little pieces find themselves up for public sale in the coming months.

  1. Check this cane out in action - too bad it made the worst dressed look, I still find it charming.
