Birthday Bo(y)han

Happy 88th Birthday to the legendary Marc Bohan. Over 60 years in the industry, including a 30 year stint at the House of Dior, Bohan helped to shape fashion history with his remarkable designs. A favorite of Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly + Jacqueline Kennedy, his designs continue to awe and inspire years after. Hats off and a happiest of birthdays to you, Mr. Bohan!

Workin at the Carwash

Pierre Cardin has always been known for experimental + avant garde designs. His 1967 Cosmocorps collection firmly cemented that reputation and along with Andre Courreges + a handful of other designers, space age design shot to the forefront of cutting edge, contemporary fashion.

Cardin continued experimenting with space inspired designs, new and exciting fabrics and incredible construction for the next several years. His A/W 1969 Moon collection was no exception.

One of the most enduringly iconic pieces from that collection is the "carwash" dress. Beautifully constructed, the birdcage like strips drape gracefully when the body's still but flare out while spinning or in motion, creating an incredible, undulating form.
